Autism:

Finding the cause or causes of autism is the most challenging aspect of medical science.
The absence of the clear understanding about the cause of autism makes it more difficult to find effective therapy. It is believed that the prevalence rate is about 1%. Autism is a spectrum disorder varying in symptoms, severity and impact.

Autistic children are grouped in to an independent class. The technique used in such children is still different. Autistic has difficulty communicating and it is hard for them to form relationship with other people and it does not make any sense to them as far as their surrounding is concerned. We need to have a specifically structured class room and we can not change this often. Verbal prompting with support of physical prompting works in most of the cases.

Boys are four times more likely to be diagnosed as autistic then girls. Autism affects all racial, ethnic
and socio economic background. It is now widely accepted that predisposition to autism is inherited. There are currently
no biological testes to confirm autism. It is only observation of behavior which helps in identification of the condition. For the individual with autism, world can be a confusing and lonely place, where everyone except them understands the rules of appropriate behavior. People with low functioning [IQ less then 70] autism may have no speech and will have special needs.
